OUTLINE : |
The Atlantic Beach Skate Park is an exciting outdoor facility designed for beginner and intermediate skate boarders. To capture the vibrancy of today's skate park, skate park experts intimately familiar with the sport as well as an engineering firm with vast experiences in recreational projects were invited to join the VIA Concepts Team.
Skate park experts, Mr. Beau Crum and Mr. Mike Peterson, are both active in worldwide skateboarding circles. Mr. Crum is an established videographer and his work has appeared in many skateboarding journals. Mr. Peterson is ranked among the top 20 professional skateboarders in the world in 2001 and 2002. Both have consulted in the design of other skate parks and best of all, they are residents of the Beaches. The engineering firm, McVeigh and Mangum Engineering, Inc., have designed many recreational facilities that are highly similar to skate parks. The insights, experience, and abilities these team members bring to the project are invaluable.
The skate park design incorporates elements that are carefully selected and purposely placed so as to allow a skateboarder to practice many skate boarding techniques in succession. It includes ramps, riding surfaces, and other elements, some of which vary in depths as they dip down and rise as much as six feet, to ensure a wide variety of skateboarding experiences. This park is the solution to Atlantic Beach community's requests for a beginner and intermediate skateboard facility.
