Bridges are link to interaction between
humankind and progress throughout history. Bridges are creations
due to economic necessity, safety, and new explorations. Bridges
overcomes adverse terrain in a most direct and persistent manner.
Bridges represent vital linkage to new frontier as airport bridges
cities through air travels. Jacksonville International Airport
(JIA) Pedestrian Bridge serves similar purposes.
The JIA Pedestrian Bridge provides a safe link for passenger,
visitors, and staff from the major parking area to the terminal.
The bridge will address the significance, technical, and environmental
aspects of the project:
A. Significance
- Jacksonville is a town with many recognizable and significant
bridges
- Jacksonville's growth can be traced back to its bridges crossing
the St. Johns
- The image of bridges and the representation of gateway toward
new frontier
